Click here for the English version.

Autumn

「Autumn

Why You'll Never Hear Me Say "Stop Wearing Black"

My personal color season is Autumn.

In the traditional four-season color system, Autumn is a warm-toned season, and black isn't part of the Autumn palette.

Black is generally considered one of Winter's strongest colors.

So does that mean I shouldn't wear black because I'm an Autumn?

Not at all.

Honestly, that would be pretty unrealistic, wouldn't it?

Black is everywhere. Walk into almost any clothing store and you'll find racks full of it. There are also plenty of situations where wearing black is expected—or simply makes sense—whether it's for work, formal events, or special occasions.

So when people say, "You're an Autumn, so you shouldn't wear black," I can't help thinking that's not very practical.

The truth is, I wear black quite often myself.

In my previous corporate career, wearing a black suit from head to toe was completely normal. Even now,
I still choose black more often than not.

I think it's because I genuinely like the feeling black creates.

It can look polished, sophisticated, and quietly confident.

Black has a presence that's hard to replicate with any other color.

That's why I don't think the important question is:

"Should I wear black or not?"

The more interesting question is:

"How do I wear black?"

The fabric makes a difference.

Accessories make a difference.

Makeup makes a difference.

The colors you pair it with make a difference.

The same black can create very different impressions depending on how you wear it.

At the end of the day, I think it comes down to the overall impression.

The overall vibe.

If the overall look feels harmonious and authentic to you, that's what matters.

Of course, creating that effortless-looking balance isn't always easy.

That's where personal color knowledge can be helpful.

For me, learning that I'm an Autumn encouraged me to explore more colors from the Autumn palette.

As a result, my wardrobe has become a little more colorful than it used to be. 😄

But that doesn't mean I gave up black.

If you love black, wear black.

If you love beige, wear beige.

The goal isn't to stop wearing the colors you love.

The goal is to understand how to wear them in a way that brings out your natural strengths and feels true to who you are.

That's why, even as a Personal Color Analyst, you'll never hear me say,

"You should stop wearing black."

Because personal color isn't about giving up the colors you love.

It's about understanding color well enough to enjoy those colors even more.
